Start from the game's own website

Some studios link their official community from their own site. If the game has one, start there. It is the safest way to avoid copies that pretend to be official.

Read the pinned message and check activity

Open the group and read the pinned rules. Look at the dates of the latest messages. An active group has several people talking this week, not just one account posting links.

Mute it at first

Busy gaming groups can send hundreds of messages a day. Mute the group when you join, then check it when you want to, instead of getting an alert for every message.

What to watch out for

Free accounts and free in-game currency

Free premium accounts, free coins and free skins are common bait. They are used to steal logins or push you to a fake website. Do not give out a password or a two-factor code for anything free.

Cracked games, cheats and mods from strangers

Files from unknown uploaders often carry malware, and cheating usually breaks a game's rules and can get your account banned. Download mods and games only from the official store or a source you trust.

Account trading and key resale

Buying or selling accounts is against the rules of many games, and you have little protection if the seller takes your money. Stolen keys can also be cancelled later.

Fake official groups

Copies of well-known groups use the same name and logo. If a game has an official community, reach Telegram through the game's own website instead of searching for the name only.

Requests for login codes or screenshots of your account

Never share your Telegram login code or your game login. Staff from a game or from Telegram will not ask you for it in a chat.
