Find a Telegram group for your work. Skip the get-rich-quick offers.
Telegram has public groups for founders, freelancers, sellers and people looking for work. Some are very useful and some exist to sell you something. This page shows how to search, what to check before you join, and which offers to avoid.
How to find a good business group
Five checks help you find a group where people talk about real work.
- Search by role or industry
- A search for business is too wide. Try freelance designers, startup founders, remote jobs, ecommerce sellers or marketing. Groups built around one role tend to have members who can answer your questions.
- Add your city or language
- For local networking or hiring, put the city or the language in the search, for example Berlin startups. A group in your own region is more likely to lead to a real meeting or a real job.
- Read the pinned message and rules
- A well-run business group pins rules about job posts, advertising and self-promotion. If there are no rules, expect a feed of adverts.
- Watch how members behave
- Look at the latest messages. Do people answer questions and share what they know, or does every post sell something? A group worth joining has real conversations.
- Read first, introduce yourself later
- Spend a few days reading. You will learn what the group allows, who the regular helpers are, and whether the topic fits you before you post.
What to watch out for
Business and job groups attract scammers because money is the topic. These habits are worth knowing before you join.
- Guaranteed income and copy-my-trades offers
- No one can guarantee an income. Offers to copy someone's trades, or to double your money, are a standard pattern in scams. If an offer sounds like easy money, assume it is not.
- Jobs that ask you to pay first
- A real employer does not charge you to hire you. Be wary of any job post that asks for a fee, a deposit, or money for training or equipment before you start.
- Early requests for ID or bank details
- A recruiter who asks for a passport photo or bank details in the first message is a warning sign. Check the employer on its own website first, and share documents only after a real interview.
- People who message you after you join
- Private messages that appear soon after you join a group, offering a partnership, an investment or a job, often come from people who found you in the member list. Do not answer them with money or personal data.
- Paid mentorship groups with big promises
- Some groups sell expensive memberships by promising to teach you a secret method. Ask what you get, ask for the price in writing, and read independent opinions before paying.
Questions about business groups on Telegram
- How do I find Telegram groups for freelancers?
- Search for your skill and the word freelance, for example freelance designers or freelance writers. Open a few results, check that people have posted recently, and read the rules about job posts before you join.
- Are job groups on Telegram reliable?
- Some are, and many are not. Treat a job post as a lead, not as proof. Check the employer on its own website, never pay to be hired, and share documents only after a real interview.
- Can I promote my business in a Telegram group?
- Only if the rules allow it. Many groups ban adverts, and admins remove posts or members who break the rules. Read the pinned message first, or ask an admin. Helping with real answers usually works better than posting a link.
- How can I find local business networking groups?
- Add the name of your city or country to the search, together with a topic such as startups or small business. Local groups are smaller, but their members are easier to meet.
- Do I need a Telegram account to use this search?
- You do not need an account to search on TG Compass, and search is free. You do need a Telegram account to join a group and to read or post in it.
Ready to search
Search is free and needs no account. Each result opens in Telegram, where you can read the group before you join.
